My friend Erin has a Row House for the summer. Project Row Houses is a row of ‘shotgun shacks’ in Houston’s Third Ward. They give student artists a space, advertising and a show at the end of the summer.

So, here’s the story: this morning Erin found me astray at Dietrich’s and she invited me to keep her company and help her work on a twelve of tecate. It was gloriously hot and we sweated the beer out as we drank it. I finished One Hundred Years of Solitude on the back porch in the sun, which, I think, is the only way to finish a book like that.

A good day.
